They look alike, and they are very very similar in many aspects.
CY was a very cranky baby. In a sense, I was glad he is my first born. I mean, after him what can be worse? :) He cried a lot a lot when he was a newborn, every night from 10pm to 12am, and sometimes to 1am. RJ had to bring him downstairs to 'air his lungs' daily since nothing we did calmed him down. RJ reassured me that CY is considered 'very good' since there are babies who cried for 8hrs or more and ended up at the A&E Dept.
CY's default state for the rest of the day was still crying. As a newborn, he rarely smiled or laughed. Mostly, he is in the state below.
When there are visitors or he is out of his usual schedule, it will be sleepless nights for us...
It was difficult to put him to bed too. It is still a struggle. At times he can take up to 3 hrs to fall asleep and will insist mummy lend her 'arm' for him to hold. Cutting back on naps, putting music, soft lightings, changing night time activities so far didn't work. We even tried CIO, but that is another story. So nightly, I'm in his room, arm locked in his, staring into the darkness...waiting. CY convinced mummy that sometimes textbook suggestions just don't work. And self proclaimed experts in child rearing (or bearing) can all go fly kite :(
Like what my friend said, "Scream first then smile later..." So comes CH, a sweet smiley girl. The below is her default state :)
There are bad days of course, but CH surprises me. She gave me renewed faith on those parenting textbooks once more. She is the darling who is able to fall asleep on her own, self soothe and self amuse. She wakes up in the morning smiling, and not crying (wow!). I am praying very hard she will not develop eating problem when she starts soilds a month down. Pray pray pray!
